A play by Carl Sternheim. Adaptation by Steve Martin
Steve Martin has reinvigorated a hilarious, laugh-out-loud farce, using Carl Sternheim's 1910 comedy. The play opens with a scandal: puritanical bureaucrat Theo Maske is outraged at his wife, Louise, for allowing her underpants to fall to the ground at a parade for the king. As scandal erupts into spectacle, the characters reflect upon our fascination with fame and our reliance on gender roles. Replete with off-the-wall humor, wordplay, and masterful banter, The Underpants is relevant in the most entertaining of ways.
The Underpants opens December 4, 2015 at Muse Arts Warehouse (703 Louisville Rd) and runs for three weekends. Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm. Sunday matinees at 3pm.
