CHRIS DESA

CHRIS DESA is an accomplished multi instrumentalist, singer/songwriter specializing primarily in six and twelve string guitars with over 5 decades experience in music. He blends well known tunes of the 60’s- 80’s with his own compositions and also includes those of many great singer/songwriters, who are not yet well known, with his versions of their tunes. Having started playing the piano at a very early age, by the time Chris completed high school he was able to play thirteen instruments. He is well known and respected in music circles for his unique performance style as singer and 12 string guitarist. He is President of SFMS since 2011 and has served as a long time member/ board member, supporting enrichment of lives through music.

Chris has produced a NEW CD “The Best Days of My Life” after a lapse of 9 years and will have copies available at the show.

ROY SWINDELLE

ROY SWINDELLE is perhaps one of the most well-known and respected musicians in the Coastal Empire as well as voted Best Musician on Tybee Island for several years. Roy makes his “First Friday” debut and is looking forward to performing his original and cover tunes.

Roy Swindelle started out as a boy king but grew bored with the perks! He started playing drums in 1958 in the Savannah Drum and Bugle Corp, at age 7. He joined his first band “The Roots Of Evil” in 1964 and never looked back! In 1975 he bought a bass guitar and became a bassist and he began playing guitar in the early 80′s. Roy has been the house musician at Doc’s for several years and has written many songs. “Bend Me Over Buccaneer”, is a true “pirate” favorite for attendees at Tybee’s “Pirate Fest”! In the last several years he has learned and mastered playing the Steel Drum and now is thinking of going back and being a King again.

Roy performs all over the Coastal Empire and beyond as a solo artist as well as with Christy Alan and his wife Martha, an amazing singer/keyboard/accordion player as the Christy Alan Band. Roy has produced and recorded several CD’s over the years and will have an array available at the event.

Please come and enjoy an evening of great folk music on 5th JUNE 2015
