In dreams, a stranger represents a part of yourself that you have yet to discover. A wolf, on the other hand represents the fears that you have yet to face. Cousins Ryan and Rick Kennedy stumbled across these “interpretations” while trying to decide on a band name, and they seemed to fit well with the themes found in their recent writings. Thus, in the fall of 2014 Strangerwolf was born. Influenced by the likes of Band of Horses, The Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes, and Neil Young, Ryan and Rick decided to keep the music as simple, and organic as possible, usually performing with just an acoustic guitar and light percussion. Since then, the family duo has tried their best to win over Jacksonville, Fl with their haunting harmonies, and emotionally charged lyrics. Strangerwolf released their first self-titled full length album in the fall of 2015. Greg Jones, of Ear to the Ground music blog, called it “a fantastic entry into the music scene” and said “They have just the right amount of dark, brooding melancholy to keep me interested. But the light and life that emerges from the harmonies keeps me from just turning everything in the room dark.” Currently Strangerwolf is writing material for their second full length album, and are planning to close the year out with a winter tour through the southeastern U.S.”
