Joe Nelson and James Pittman

With close harmony singing combined with fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and banjo, James and Joe draw upon our rich musical heritage with old time hillbilly hits of the 1920s, fiddle tunes, bluegrass songs and country music classics of the 1950s. Since 1998 this duo has played festivals, dances, and other events throughout Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. Joe and James learned from musicians of an older generation as well as some of today’s best, along with 78 rpm recordings. They’ll delight us this evening with selections from early Georgia music groups like the Skillet Lickers or the Yellow Hammers as well as pioneers like the Carter Family, the Stanley Brothers and Merle Haggard.

Seldom Sober

A two piece version of the Savannah Ceili Band with fiddler Colleen Settle and guitarist Michael Corbett. Colleen began playing Irish music professionally in 1978 and was protégé of New York area fiddlers Maureen Glynn and Rose Flanagan. Michael primarily plays acoustical guitar and has been performing since 1995. He was mentored by the finest Irish folk musicians, including Robbie O’Connell and Liam Clancy. This duo combines their voices and instruments to share their favorite Irish tunes.
