Join us for a special Fire & Wine complete with live music in the courtyard. About the musician:
Brad Standley was lost. Ten years had passed since he wandered off his family’s California apple orchard to tour Europe and front bands in Los Angeles. Now immersed in NYC’s cutthroat music scene, he realized that amid all the noise and excitement of the city, he could barely hear his own heartbeat. Finally on the verge of a breakdown, it finally came to him, like the call of his mother yelling from the front porch. He began simply stripping everything away and starting over, discovering these self-deprecatingly honest songs with only his voice and a beater of an acoustic guitar. He played them alone in coffee shops in Astoria, Bushwick and the LES, treading the no longer milk and honey routes of so many before him. Soon after, he teamed up with producers John Lambremont Jr, Patrick Doyle and Jaime Wosk to flesh out that Jeff Buckley meets Otis Redding ebb and flow. And all of a sudden, these songs started to thump in all of their veins.
Brad wanted to get back to the reason he started playing. To the feeling of sitting on the carpet listening to Jim Croce and Patty Griffin. Simple, heart-driven music with and for people who want the same. To remind everyone, that it doesn’t matter where in the world you are or how far you’ve traveled, you can always find yourself there.
