#Aggressively Civil + the PFS of SAV present GEORGE ORWELL'S 1984 - Proceeds Benefit the ACLU & the SPLC

For one-show only, #AGGRESSIVELY CIVIL and the PSYCHOTRONIC FILM SOCIETY of SAVANNAH present the little-known 1954 adaptation of George Orwell's classic anti-authoritarian sci-fi novel, 1984.

This B&W version was scripted by the legendary British screenwriter NIGEL KNEALE (creator of the QUATERMASS saga, among other things), has never been released or shown in the USA and is essentially unknown outside of the U.K. It caused such a stir when first broadcast by the BBC that it was denounced by five Members of the British Parliament as being too disturbing and provocative to be seen by the public.

This rare archival recording is one of the earliest British TV broadcasts saved for posterity, and is considered one of the most important British programs of all time.

We are showing 1984 because of the frightening parallels between its horrific vision of the future, and the ugly societal division which has become today's reality in the USA. It is a timely and cautionary tale.

Don't miss this opportunity to see it on the big screen!

100% of proceeds benefit #AGGRESSIVELY CIVIL, a new non-profit which was formed specifically to raise money for two worthwhile non-profit legal organizations: the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center).

Both are the finest groups in the country at what they do: fighting fiercely in the courts on behalf of Americas downtrodden, whose civil rights have been abused - and identifying and monitoring this country's most dangerous and insidious hate groups and militant, homegrown terrorist organizations.

Together, they are at the forefront of the battle against the intolerance, intimidation and ignorance which has sadly come to typify the the American Right Wing, and the fascist leanings and tendencies of the current presidential administration.
