Acoustic Tuesday: Live Music by Liv & Let Liv

  • Foxy Loxy Print Gallery and Cafe 1919 Bull Street Savannah, GA, 31401 United States (map)

LIV GREENE is a singer-songwriter based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born and raised in Washington, DC, she began playing guitar and singing at the age of 12 and has since discovered passions for mandolin and banjo. Raised on Emmylou Harris, Brandi Carlile and Patty Griffin, Liv discovered her love for songwriting at an early age. Liv is an alum of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she graduated with honors as well as the Singer-Songwriter program’s Artist of the Year Award. Liv has been a finalist in various songwriting competitions across the country, including the 2016 YoungArts (Singer-Songwriter) competition, the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, the International Songwriting Competition, and the Loretta’s Americana Showcase. She is currently studying Contemporary Improvisation at New England Conservatory.

LIV BAXTER is a songstress and fiddler hailing from the shores of southern Rhode Island. She first started playing classical violin in community orchestra, and began to explore other styles during her time studying jazz at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School where she was awarded the 2015 Contemporary Improvisation Award. She has gone on to play shows throughout New England and beyond, both as a solo singer-songwriter, and as a member of several jazz and bluegrass groups. In addition to performance, Liv is passionate about the power of building community through music, and has volunteered with various youth music programs including Girls Rock! Rhode Island and Community Music Works, as well as organised community dances, including a benefit square dance for the 2016 West Virginia Floods. As a recipient of the Arts in Action Award, Liv is in her final year of studying Ethnomusicology and translation at Hampshire College.

THE DUO was born at the magical Miles of Music camp in 2015 upon finding a shared love of old songs, sweet tea, and spontaneous adventures. The two have been performing and travelling together ever since, first from festival to festival searching for songwriting inspiration before embarking on their own tour. Last summer, they played shows down the East Coast from Montreal to West Virginia. Their sound is distinctly Americana, with whispers of whim and youth, tied together by their vivid lyrics and immaculate harmonies.
