Savannah Stage Company presents: "Cabaret"

  • The Pop Up Playhouse 115 East Lathrop Avenue Savannah, GA, 31415 United States (map)

Welcome to the Kit Kat Club, the hottest nightspot in 1929's seedy and sinful Berlin. American writer Cliff Bradshaw
travels to Germany in search of inspiration and pleasure, and finds both in nightclub performer Sally Bowles. However,
outside the club's doors, the Nazis' impending rise to power threatens to splinter their decadent lifestyle. Featuring one of
Broadway's most memorable scores!

This production, true to Savannah Stage Company, will focus on simple, beautiful, and action driven storytelling. Jayme Tinti, Artistic Director and two time winner of BEST LOCAL THEATRE DIRECTOR, leads a cast and crew that is made up
the absolute Who’s Who of the Savannah performance community. The leading role of Sally Bowles is played by Lexi Balaoing - voted 2018’s BEST LOCAL VOCALIST by the readers of Connect Savannah. Sally’s Kit Kat Klub counter part,
The Emcee, is played by Founding Member and 2017 & 2018’s BEST LOCAL ACTOR Wesley Pridgen. Bryan Pridgen,
another SSC founding member, takes on the role Cliff Bradshaw, the American writer looking to find inspiration for his novel
in Berlin. The roles of Herr Schultz and Fraulein Schneider are played by Gary Shelby and Malinda Davis Smith,
respectively. The Kit Kat Klub girls have some very familiar faces, including two time BEST LOCAL ACTRESS winner Ashley Cook as Frenchie and Company Member Ellen Sherrod as Lulu. It also features many new Savannah Stage Company members including Jessie Hyder as Fritzie Kost, April S Hayes as Helga, Elyssa Lemay as Texas, and as Io Ermoli as Rosie. The Kit Kat Klub boys are Juan Miguel Vidales, a recent SCAD graduate and Ashton Harris a Physical Theatre major at Coastal Carolina
University. This production also features the husband and wife duo of Nathan and Diane Houseman. Nathan masters the
role of Ernst Ludwig while Diane serves as Music Director.

The production will feature choreography from Wendy Penatello Denney and an orchestra tripled the size of SSC’s usual accompaniment. The band will feature Music Director
Diane Houseman on keyboard, Andrew Lukin on percussion, Rod Singleton on saxophone and clarinet, Chris Tillis on
bass, and Jonathan Truluck on trombone.

Cabaret is part of Savannah Stage Company’s 2018 Season of Service. We understand that it’s not just what shows that
are chosen, but what is done with those shows. This season has been a year of partnerships and expanding our reach.
Cabaret is an important story to tell and under our current political climate, far too relevant.
