Inspired by the melancholy "Ballad of Barbara Allen," Dark of the Moon is set in the Smoky Mountains and offers an eerie brew of folklore and fantasy in recounting the story of John, the strange Witch Boy, who begs to be made human so that he can marry the beautiful Barbara Allen.
