Ibert Divertissement
Mozart Piano Concerto No. 12, in A major, K. 414
Beethoven Symphony No. 8 in F
Rossini Barber of Seville: Overture
Who says music has to be stuffy? Mozart and Rossini are perhaps the music world’s best-loved comedians, but Ibert is no slouch either. His Divertissment, originally written for the theater, pokes fun at famous music of the time, including a send-up of Mendelssohn’s famous Wedding March. Even notoriously-grumpy Beethoven joins in the fun with his lighthearted Eighth Symphony.
Program notes will appear in Volume 2 of the Savannah Philharmonic Program.
