February 11 (Saturday), 7 PM

EO (Poland/Italy, 2022)

A Southeastern Premiere!

Get ready for a truly unique cinematic experience: a visual, auditory, and technical feat like no other you have ever seen.

In EO, a veteran Polish filmmaker (and a marvelous painter) Jerzy Skolimowski, (Walkover, The Shout, Deep End, Essential Killing), who will turn 85 this year,  paints a striking portrait of modern-day Europe. It’s beautifully impressionistic at times, cold and cruel at others, and with a unique perspective: a donkey’s. An update of Robert Bresson’s 1966 Au Hasard BalthazarEO follows the life and adventures of EO  as he changes hands and trots across Europe.

EO is mostly wordless, with few interruptions from humans, and this works in the film's favor. Indeed, the most emotionally effective moments do not stem from dialogue but from the gravity placed on certain shots and scenes. And yes, it features the always magnificent, Isabelle Huppert.

After winning the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival and over sixty (60) international awards and nominations, EO was selected as the best non-English Film of 2022 by the Los Angeles and New York Critics’ Associations and the National Association of Film Critics. It has just been nominated for Best International Film Oscar. 88 minutes.

Box office opens at 6. Tix are $10, cash preferred
