This special evening of music will take listeners on a lyrical journey into the lives and songs of legendary vocalists including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. “Celebrating Great Ladies of Jazz” will feature renowned vocalist and musical storyteller Shana Tucker backed by internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and vibraphonist Christian Tamburr, bassist Billy Thornton and drummer Al Sergel IV. Tucker is a renowned vocalist and accomplished cellist who performed in Cirque du Soleil’s KA show in Las Vegas for five years. The Howard University graduate calls her musical style “ChamberSoul” and is known for dynamic, engaging live performances blending jazz, roots, folk and R&B. All About Jazz has called Tucker a “multitalented vocalist” with a “bright, bluesy, jazzy” style.
