Savannah Jazz grew out of the Coastal Jazz Association, a grassroots nonprofit founded in 1981 to keep jazz thriving in Savannah by presenting live performances, supporting jazz education, and building a community of enthusiasts. Today, Savannah Jazz produces the annual Savannah Jazz Festival, oversees the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame, and leads the Savannah Jazz Orchestra.
